Samsung dishwasher code 5C: not draining

What it means

The dishwasher couldn’t pump the water out at the end of a wash.

What to try

Unplug the dishwasher before any step beyond a quick look, and turn the water off before touching hoses.

1. Turn the dishwasher off at the breaker before reaching into the tub.
2. Remove and rinse the filters at the bottom of the tub.
3. Check the drain hose under the sink for kinks or crushing.
4. If it drains into a garbage disposal, run the disposal to clear it.
5. Restore power and run a short cycle to test.

Samsung’s reset for most faults: switch the dishwasher off at the breaker for about 30 seconds, then restart the cycle. If the code returns, request service.
