LG washer error codes
LG front-load and top-load washers. Some codes mean slightly different things on the two types, so we say which type each step applies to. LG notes that codes can vary by model; newer front-loaders may show an E-number version of the same code (for example E03 for OE).
Water supply and filling
IE: Not filling with water
Not enough water reached the drum in the time allowed.
E02 E10FF: Frozen water lines
The washer thinks water in the tub, drain hose or inlet hoses has frozen.
u51Draining and overfilling
E3: Drain motor fault (top-load)
On LG top-load washers, E3 points to the drain motor.
Leaks
AE: Internal leak (front-load)
On LG front-load washers, AE means the leak safety switch has tripped. (On top-load models, AE is a drum rotation error instead; see LE.)
Doors, lids and drawers
dE: Door not locking
The washer can’t confirm the door or lid is closed and locked.
dE1 dE2 dL E01 E30OPn: Detergent drawer open
Push the drawer fully in. Contact LG if the code persists.
Balance, spin and vibration
UE: Load out of balance
The laundry is bunched up or the washer isn’t level, so the drum can’t spin safely.
LE: Drum won’t turn
The motor is struggling to turn the drum, for example from an overload or something stuck. On top-load washers, AE and LE1 also mean this.
LE1vS: Vibration sensor fault
Press Start/Pause to resume. If it happens again, turn the washer off and on. Contact LG if it continues.
uS u5Detergent and suds
Sud: Too many suds (front-load)
The washer found too much foam and is running a suds-reducing routine, which adds about 2 hours to the cycle.
Power and controls
PS: Power supply problem
Plug directly into a wall outlet (no power strip), unplug for 60 seconds, then restart. Contact LG if it persists.
P5Parts and sensors
PE: Water level sensor fault
The sensor that measures how much water is in the tub isn’t reading correctly.
E33tE: Heating or temperature sensor fault
The washer isn’t getting a sensible reading from its temperature sensor.
CE: Motor over-current (front-load)
The motor circuit drew more current than it should.
HE: Heater fault (front-load)
Power down and unplug for 10 seconds, then restart. A technician is needed if it persists.
SE: Sensor fault (front-load)
Power down and unplug for 10 seconds, then restart. A technician is needed if it persists.
dHE: Drying function fault
Power down and unplug for 10 seconds, then restart. Contact LG if it persists.
Ed1: Detergent pump fault (ezDispense)
Check the detergent type and clear residue from the tray. Service is needed if it persists.
Ed2Ed3: Softener pump fault (ezDispense)
Use liquid softener only and clear residue. Service is needed if it persists.
Ed4E80: Control board communication fault
Unplug for 60 seconds and restart. Service is needed if it persists.
Ed5nE: Wi-Fi or NFC module fault
Unplug for 60 seconds and restart. Service is needed if it persists.
nF nCNotices, not faults
PF: Power was interrupted
Press Start/Pause to resume. On front-loaders, if it keeps happening, unplug, hold Start/Pause for 5 seconds and restore power.
CL: Child or control lock is on
Press and hold the lock button for 3 seconds (the button varies by model).
tCL: Tub Clean reminder
Run Tub Clean with an empty drum and washer cleaner. LG suggests monthly.
Cd: Cooling down after drying
Remove the laundry or press Start/Pause.
dcL: Dispenser nozzle cleaning
ezDispense is cleaning its nozzle, about 16 minutes. No action needed.
No LG washer code matches that. Check your manual for model-specific codes, or try the Fix Finder.
Resetting an LG washer
LG’s usual reset: unplug the washer for 10 to 60 seconds (LG gives different times for different codes), plug it back in and restart. If the code persists, contact LG for service.
