Read a code the right way
Codes aren’t shared between brands. The same letters can mean something completely different depending on who made the machine.
| Code | On a Samsung washer | On an LG washer |
|---|---|---|
| OE | Too much water (overflow) | Not draining |
| AE | Communication fault | Internal leak (front-load) |
| LE | Water leak detected | Drum won’t turn |
Three tips
- Check the brand first. It’s printed on the front and on the label inside the door or lid.
- O or 0? Displays draw the letter O and the number 0 the same way. Our search treats them as the same, and does the same for I and 1.
- Write it down before resetting. A reset clears the code, and the technician will want to know what it was.
