Whirlpool washer code HC: hot and cold hoses reversed (top-load HE)

What it means

The fill hoses are connected to the wrong inlets.

What to try

Unplug the washer before any step beyond a quick look, and turn the water off before touching hoses.

1. Turn off both water faucets.
2. Swap the hoses so hot goes to hot and cold to cold.
3. Turn the water on and run another cycle to check.

Resetting a Whirlpool washer

To clear a code on a front-loader, press Pause/Cancel twice and then Power once. On top-load HE models, press Start/Pause once to clear it. For an unexplained F#E# code, unplug the washer for 5 minutes, plug it back in, choose a cycle and press Start.
