Whirlpool washer code Sud: too many suds

What it means

Too much foam was detected. The washer adds rinsing automatically to clear it.

What to try

Unplug the washer before any step beyond a quick look, and turn the water off before touching hoses.

1. Use HE detergent only, in the right amount.
2. Avoid “no splash” liquid chlorine bleach in these washers.
3. Check the drain hose isn’t kinked or clogged, since slow draining makes suds worse.

Resetting a Whirlpool washer

To clear a code on a front-loader, press Pause/Cancel twice and then Power once. On top-load HE models, press Start/Pause once to clear it. For an unexplained F#E# code, unplug the washer for 5 minutes, plug it back in, choose a cycle and press Start.
