GE dishwasher code 999: leak detected, or control needs a reset
Usually needs a technician
Also shown as LEAK DETECTED
Act now. If your model has Floor Protect or shows LEAK DETECTED, don’t keep running it. Check for water and call for service.
What it means
On models with Floor Protect with Alert, 999 means a possible leak and the dishwasher won’t start. On other models, 999 means the control needs a reset. LEAK DETECTED means the cycle was cancelled because a leak was sensed.
What to try
Unplug the dishwasher before any step beyond a quick look, and turn the water off before touching hoses.
- Floor Protect models and LEAK DETECTED: turn off the water valve under the sink and mop up any water.
- Other models: reset the control by switching power off at the breaker for a minute or two.
Call a technician if
- Any leak alert. GE gives no home fix for it.
Resetting a GE dishwasher
GE says switching the power off for a minute or two can clear a fault. For several codes it suggests turning the breaker off for about 30 seconds, then pressing Reset. If that doesn’t work, the dishwasher may need service.
