GE dishwasher code C1: pump-out took too long
Fixable with care
What it means
Draining took longer than 2 minutes during a drain.
What to try
Unplug the dishwasher before any step beyond a quick look, and turn the water off before touching hoses.
- If you have an air gap on the sink, clean it out.
- Check the drain hose; reposition it if it’s kinked, or replace it if damaged.
- If it drains through a garbage disposal, run the disposal to clear it.
Call a technician if
- The problem persists after these checks.
Resetting a GE dishwasher
GE says switching the power off for a minute or two can clear a fault. For several codes it suggests turning the breaker off for about 30 seconds, then pressing Reset. If that doesn’t work, the dishwasher may need service.
