GE dishwasher code C4: filled twice after a power failure
Fixable with care
What it means
After a power cut the dishwasher filled twice. The float may be stuck, or the drain or sump may be clogged.
What to try
Unplug the dishwasher before any step beyond a quick look, and turn the water off before touching hoses.
- Touch Start, then Cancel or Reset.
- Tap the float cover inside the tub so the float can move freely.
- Check the sump at the bottom of the tub for debris.
Call a technician if
- The problem persists.
Resetting a GE dishwasher
GE says switching the power off for a minute or two can clear a fault. For several codes it suggests turning the breaker off for about 30 seconds, then pressing Reset. If that doesn’t work, the dishwasher may need service.
