LG washer code AE: internal leak (front-load)
Fixable with care
What it means
On LG front-load washers, AE means the leak safety switch has tripped. (On top-load models, AE is a drum rotation error instead; see LE.)
What to try
Unplug the washer before any step beyond a quick look, and turn the water off before touching hoses.
- Check the inlet hoses for loose connections or cuts.
- Unplug the washer for 60 seconds and restart.
Call a technician if
- The code persists, or you can see water under the washer.
Resetting an LG washer
LG’s usual reset: unplug the washer for 10 to 60 seconds (LG gives different times for different codes), plug it back in and restart. If the code persists, contact LG for service.
