LG washer code tE: heating or temperature sensor fault

Usually needs a technician

What it means

The washer isn’t getting a sensible reading from its temperature sensor.

What to try

Unplug the washer before any step beyond a quick look, and turn the water off before touching hoses.

  1. Front-load: unplug for 10 seconds, choose a no-spin drain to empty the drum, then restart.
  2. Top-load: if very hot water was poured into the drum, unplug the washer and let the water cool before restarting.

Call a technician if

  • The code persists. LG says it usually means a faulty sensor (thermistor).

Resetting an LG washer

LG’s usual reset: unplug the washer for 10 to 60 seconds (LG gives different times for different codes), plug it back in and restart. If the code persists, contact LG for service.
