LG washer code E3: drain motor fault (top-load)
Usually needs a technician
What it means
On LG top-load washers, E3 points to the drain motor.
What to try
Unplug the washer before any step beyond a quick look, and turn the water off before touching hoses.
- Unplug the washer, plug it back in and try again.
- If the drain hose or tub may have frozen, thaw them first.
Call a technician if
- It repeats after a reset and freezing isn’t the cause.
Resetting an LG washer
LG’s usual reset: unplug the washer for 10 to 60 seconds (LG gives different times for different codes), plug it back in and restart. If the code persists, contact LG for service.
